Luis Jaime Castillo, professeur invité de l’EHESS en 2017

Luis Jaime Castillo is Professor of Archaeology at the Department of Humanities, Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. He is a Peruvian archaeologist specialized in the development and collapse of complex societies in the North Coast of Peru, particularly the Moche, where he has directed the San Jose de Moro Archaeological Program since 1991. His research and publications have focused on ritual and funerary practices; the ideological configuration of political power; art, iconography and archaeology. His interests also include issues of technology and the use of remote sensing in archaeological research and protection. He served between 2013 to 2015 as Vice Minister of Cultural Patrimony and Cultural Industries in the Ministry of Culture, Peru.
